MLD Services

Services

MLD treatment plans are individualized for the needs of each patient.  The most efficacious number and frequency of MLD treatments is determined after an initial consultation.  A doctor’s prescription or consent may be required in some cases of surgical or lymphedema treatment.  In these cases, the treatment plan is submitted to the patient’s physician for approval.

Surgical Services

Pre-Operative: Two or more sessions up to 48 hours prior to surgery will detoxify and nourish the surgical site and stimulate immune activity to reduce the risk of post-operative complications.

Post-Operative: Three or more sessions beginning 24-48 hours after surgery will speed recovery and rehab as well as improve esthetic results.

Health and Wellness Services

Orthopedic: MLD alone or in combination with massage helps to alleviate pain and edema from joint and soft tissue inflammations.

Detoxification Program: MLD alone or in combination with other cleansing or detoxification programs.

Chronic Conditions: MLD can relieve symptoms or assist in the management of chronic inflammatory and autoimmune disease.

Pregnancy and Post-Partum: MLD can relieve breast tenderness, ease lactation and relieve edema.

Stress Reduction: MLD removes inflammation, soothes nerve pain receptors, and stimulates the autonomic nerve endings to reduce the production of adrenaline and reduce the “fight or flight” stress response.

Lymphedema Prevention and Treatment

Preventive Care: MLD after cancer surgery and/or radiation treatment along with activity changes and other precautionary measures can help to prevent or delay the onset of lymphedema after lymph node dissection and/or radiation therapy.  MLD promotes lymphatic “rerouting” to decrease pressure on comprised lymphatic tissue.

Lymphedema Treatment: MLD along with bandaging and compression garments can reduce disfigurement and improve the quality of life of lymphedema patients.
